Ruthie’s Cookies began in 2001 inside Ruth’s smokehouse, delicatessen, and espresso shop, Back to the Best, in Reedsport, Oregon. Known for her old family recipes—from smoked salmon and jerky to house-made mustards and baked goods—Ruth built a loyal following rooted in quality, craftsmanship, and wholesome ingredients.​

 

The original Breakfast Cookie was born from a simple request. A regular customer, the owner of The Myrtlewood Gallery in Reedsport, asked Ruth for a healthier breakfast option he could enjoy on busy mornings. Ruth went into her kitchen—and emerged with what would become the now-famous Cashew Raisin Breakfast Cookie.

 

Unlike the typical bagel or muffin, Ruth’s breakfast cookie was hearty, satisfying, and made with real, whole ingredients. Word spread quickly. As sales grew in her shops, so did demand from other local businesses eager to carry her cookies. Ruth began personally delivering her products, eventually building a 600-mile delivery route spanning the central Oregon coast to Interstate 5.​

 

In September 2006, Ruthie’s, LLC was officially formed by Ruth and her son, Dustin Dibala. From the beginning, their mission has remained the same: to create delicious, handcrafted products made with the highest quality whole-food ingredients—offering a thoughtful alternative to overly refined, mass-produced options.

 

What began as a small-town kitchen creation has grown into a trusted brand serving nearly 150 businesses throughout Oregon. Today, Ruthie’s continues to expand with the same commitment to quality, authenticity, and all-natural ingredients that started it all.​

 

Our hope is simple: that people from coast to coast can enjoy cookies made with care, tradition, and integrity for years to come.
